Workshops meet on Fridays, 7-8 am (London time)

This series of workshops is based on Swami Saradananda’s book “The Cleansing Power of Yoga”

Spring-cleaning is as important for your body as it is for your home. The change-of-season is especially conducive to intensive cleansing. After the inner-focus of Winter, a yogi’s body needs to prepare for the outgoing energy of Spring and Summer.

Swami Saradananda will guide you in ways to establish a daily routine of kriyas and pranayama. She will also offer suggestions for a more intense detox at this important juncture of seasons.

Without physical purification, you will probably find that it is more difficult to achieve your goals in life - whatever they may be. It is well worth the effort to make time to cleanse your body, and to express gratitude that you are able to do so.

Workshop 1: Respiratory System: 27 Sept

Many dedicated yogis put great emphasis on purifying the respiratory system. In addition to pranayama, kriyas (cleansing techniques) have far-reaching benefits. They can enable not only an enhanced ability to ‘smell the roses’, but also stronger lungs, clearer skin, and a calmer, more transparent and steadier mind.

Workshop 2: Digestive System: 4 Oct

In addition to eating a pure diet, yoga teachings recommend various techniques to cleanse the digestive system and purify the sense of taste. Some of these are beyond the scope of what is recommended in normal detox programmes.

Workshop 3: The Eyes Have It: 11 Oct

As you get older, your eyes tend to lock into habitual patterns and lose their flexibility. There is a whole range of yoga practices that can assist you in maintaining visual agility and improving your eyesight. Yoga is about learning new ways of seeing and relating to the world. But first you need to purify you physical eyes so that the inner-vision may be amplified.

Cost: Workshop pricing is on a sliding scale of £9 - 15 per workshop or £25 - 35 for the entire series.

After each workshop, you will be sent printed handouts, including suggestions for practice and further study.

“Thank you Swami Saradananda for a great experience throughout 'Yoga Teachers' Guide to Pranayama' course. What I really found valuable were the practice diaries and your pace of teaching. The weekly homework taught me to have discipline in my own practice and deep understanding of different levels pranayama offers. I highly recommend studying with Swami to all teachers.”

- Alena Leprevost, yoga teacher

“I have been enjoying the benefits of the class—not just the breath work itself, but also the shift in my perspective from the focus on my asana practice with some pranayama and meditation to a more balanced yoga experience. Samanu has been transformative for my meditation practice and I always use that to lead into my meditation now. Thank you for a wonderful experience and I hope to take more courses in the future!”

- Laura Harris, yoga teacher, Fresno, CA

“I always enjoy learning from Swami Saradandana, her style of teaching is an inspiring combination of clearly explained theory with a firm foundation of consistent practice, both built upon a wealth of experience. Learning under her tutorage motivates perseverance in the practice.”

- Anneka, yoga practitioner & teacher, Scotland
